Our first game is Wednesday night, at 9 p.m. at Riverside Park. We are taking on Kickbutt and Kickballs, also known on the softball team as Softbutt and Kickballs or Softballs and Kickbutt or whatever the name of that team was who just beat those of us who were part of the Wednesday softball tournament last week. Vegas has installed us 6.5-run underdogs, but I'm thinking we can pull an upset.
There will be a voluntary team meeting before the game at 7:30 p.m. at Rub BBQ just up the street from the field. Here we will pass out jerseys and provide a refresher on the rules. Finally, we'd like to wish a Happy Birthday to new team member Hilary Bell, who is turning um, 23, I think, on Wednesday. She will not be able to join us because she will be celebrating by cheering on her native Sox with fellow classy fans, like this young baseball lover.
